Crochet a granny square from a chart

Ready to take your crochet to the next level? Granny squares are a fundamental building block used in creating not just blankets but sweaters, hats and so many more creative garments. Add in chart reading skills and you’ll be ready to tackle far more advanced patterns. You'll be joined by Emily, our in-house crochet expert, who will be walking us through the foundations of granny squares.

Together we'll cover:

• What is the granny stitch?

• How to use the granny stitch to make a square

• Chart Reading

For this workshop, you’ll need to bring your own supplies. 

Supplies from home:

• Practice yarn

• Crochet hook in a size appropriate to your yarn

Note: This class is designed for those who already have basic crochet skills or have completed our Learn to Crochet series.

Instructor: Emily Stauffer is a San Francisco-based yarn lover with a lifetime of crochet & knitting skills, and 10 years of teaching experience. As a pale child, stuck inside with grandma and the great aunts all summer, Emily took to fiber arts like a fish to water. A hook or two needles, it doesn't matter as long as there are lots of colors.
