Balaclava No. 1 (My Favourite Things Knitwear)

Balaclava No. 1 (My Favourite Things Knitwear)

Created by Denmark-based knitwear designer Louise of My Favourite Things Knitwear

The cutest cold weather essential knit up in the softest fiber known to humans, Meelam hand-spun pashmina (aka cashmere). The clever combination of hat and collar keeps both neck and head warm, while looking super chic. Balaclava No. 1 is worked top down in a delicate rib pattern.

Level: Intermediate

Finished Measurements: The pictured balaclava is approximately 7 inches wide and 14 inches from the top of the hood to bottom of the neck. This is slightly longer than what is called for in the pattern; adjust for desired length. The gauge is knit up in patterned broken rib stitch using 4 mm needles at 21 sts / 31 rows = 4 x 4 inches.

  • Meelam Pashmina: 2 x 50g or 1 x 100 g skein (pictured here in Peony), find it HERE
  • Pattern recommended needles: 4 mm [US 6] circular needles (24 or 32 inches) and 2.5 mm [US 2] circular needles (16 inches), or the size needles necessary to obtain gauge. The pictured balaclava is knit up in size US 5 (instead of US 6) needles to obtain gauge.
