Amara Upcycled Linen

  • Hand-spun upcycled linen

We've partnered with an artisan group in Bihar, India to bring you our first collection of upcycled linen! Each skein is hand-spun using remnants from linen fabric mills, beautiful fiber that would otherwise go to waste.

What does “Amara” mean? Two dear Indian friends led us to the word “amar”, which in Sanskrit means eternal, immortal, everlasting. When we looked at the lifecycle of textiles and the waste created in production, the practice of upcycling creates a step toward immortality. We can't wait to see how your work will give new life to these fibers!

This collection is great for super textural weaving as well as knitting and crochet projects. Note that each strand is delicate so will need a gentle touch when working with it.

  • • Fiber: Upcycled linen dyed with AZO-free non-toxic acid dyes

    • Weight: 100 grams

    • Yardage: Roughly 25 yards

    • The hand-spun remnant fiber nature of this collection make each strand delicate. We've found it best to carefully unwind each skein before using.

    • Each skein is unique. Please plan on enough yarn to complete your project to assure consistency.
